On Friday, July 24, 2009, Northeast, along with Huntertown, were dispatched to the area of Hursh Rd. between I-69 and Tonkel. Upon E-175's arrivial, they found one patient pinned in the vehicle with injuries. E-171 took I.C., and R-98 and E-95 helped with removing the patient from the wreckage. TRAA paramedics from Fort Wayne transported the patient.
On Monday, June 15, 2009, at 12:18 AM, units from Northeast, along with St. Joe, were dispatched to the area of Notestine @ Schwartz for a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, Fire 71 found a 250 x 75 barn fully engulfed with flames shooting approximately 150 to 200 feet off the ground. Fire 71 assumed I.C. and advised E-142 to lay 5 inch hose approximately 600 feet up the drive. Fire 71 also request additional resources for water supply. Northeast would like to thank the following departments that assisted: Huntertown, Woodburn, Washington, New Haven, and St. Joe.
On Monday, June 1, Northeast was called to the scene of a car vs semi accident. While enroute, dispatch advised that one person was trapped. Due to E-145 having been on another run, R-148 was the first truck out. Therefore, units requested Samaritan to the scene. Units arrived and found the driver of a passanger car trapped in the vehicle. Medics quickly began treatment on the patients, and fire crews were able to extracate the patients within minutes. The crew from Samaritan landed just as the patient was being moved to a long spine board. The patient was flown to Parkview.
Northeast had a busy Monday on April 27th. Northeast started the day with an early morning medical run, then responded with Huntertown Fire to a motor vehicle accident with reports of a driver being pinned. The driver was trapped, and due to his condition, was flown by Samaritan to a local hospital. Before units could get back to the station, they were dispatched to a structure fire in Dekalb County. Several trucks from Northeast responded, along with neighboring departments. The day didn’t end there; A couple more runs and another fire kept units busy the rest of the day. While units were out Northeast had Huntertown, St. Joe, and New Haven on stand-by for them to cover the east side of the county. Northeast would like to thank those departments for their assistance.
Northeast Fire and EMS responded to a water rescue that could of been more serious that it was. A local business man attempted driving through water that was flooded over Schlatter Road. He quickly found the water was deeper than he had originally thought. His car stalled, and units were called to assist. The man was not hurt, and his vehicle needs to dry out.
Northeast Fire and EMS respond to a East Allen County School bus accident earlier today. A vehicle failed to stop and rear ended the school bus. No students were transported to the hospital, nor was the driver of the car. All the students were checked by EMS personnl and released to their parents. There were around 35 students on the bus.

NEACFE, along with Huntertown and St. Joe, responded to a reported attached garage fire. NEACFE and Huntertown were initially dispatched around 11:00 AM on Wed., March 18. Upon arrival, smoke was visible from the garage, and St. Joe was requested to assist with an engine crew. Huntertown stretched a 1 ¾ hose and advanced the line into the garage. Units began to overhaul and found the fire had spread into the attic. Firefighters pulled the ceiling down and removed items that were still smoldering from the attic area. At the time of publication the cause of fire had yet to be determined. NEACFE would like to thank Huntertown and St. Joe for assisting NEACFE on this incident.
The quick actions of a homeowner on Feb 2, 2009 saved his house. Around 6:30 in the morning NEACFE with the assistance of Woodburn were called to 12000 block of Repp Road for a possible structure fire. Upon arrivial units found heavy smoke coming from the basement. The homeowner advised that the fire was out and just heavy smoke damage. Units established some positive pressure and was able to clear the smoke conditions out. Units were about 20 minutes before returning to service.
NEACFE with the assistance of St Joe Township FD and Woodburn get a save on a insulation fire. Units were dispatched around 7:30 PM on Wed January 28,2009 to a structure fire, fire in the attic. Upon arrival F-71 took command, crews from E-71 and E-142 made entry found insulation smoldering and were able to remove the hazard. F-71 requested the insulation vaccum from base 160 but it was not needed. Crews were able to keep the overhaul to a minimum removing about a three foot by 15 foot section of ceiling. This shop was used to repair lawn mowers and other small equipment. There were no injuries reported and it took crews about a hour and half at the scene. NEACFE would like to thank St Joe and Woodburn for the quick response to this fire. At the time the article was wrote a official cause of the fire had not yet been determined.
Northeast Fire along with Huntertown, Washington and St Joe Township fire departments will be doing training with FWFD S.O.R.T. The SORT team came out to Huntertown FD on Wed and explained to the departments what they are able to handle. The team can do confined space, high-angled and building collapes. It takes the SORT team about 20 minutes to assemble with around 10 members, it takes another 20 to call in all the other members. In about an hour the team can have 30 firefighters and equipment there to handle most situations.
Northeast with the assistance of Woodburn responded to a housefire in Harlan on Tuesday January 6 2009 around 3 am. Upon arrival of the first unit flames through the roof. It took units 20 minutes to bring fire under control the fire is still under investigations through the insurance company. The F.A.S.T team was called out to investigate. Units were out about 3 hours. We would like to thank the Woodburn fire department for the assistance and quick response.
