Thanks go to Jim Anderson for swimming in the river to get these fine photos during rescue training!
The ice rescue class was held the first and the second of March. From everyone I talked to, it was a great success. Saturday the class met in the classroom for the morning portion to practice techniques for rescue. For the afternoon portion, everyone went to the river for the swimming. Everyone went in to work on the techniques they learned earlier. Sunday they met down at the river and started right in on the water. Alyssa Ivanson from channel 15 reported on the training and she even went into the river. Great job Frank, everyone who attended found the class to be informative and exciting. Thank you to Gina Anderson and Aytha Stevens whom provided the lunch for the class. I heard the beef and noodles were delicious. I talked to the Coast Guard instructors, after the Saturday class, they said the first day of practicals went real well. This class was a train the trainer class so Frank and his crew will be able to teach it to everyone next winter.
