Northeast Battles Structure Fire in Leo

Saturday, April 17, 2010
By Fred Spannuth

On Saturday afternoon Northeast Fire responded to a reported structure fire in Leo on State Road 1.  The first unit on the scene encountered a heavy smoke condition coming from the structure and coded it a "working fire".  Command requested an area tanker response and additional mutual aid companies be added to the call.  State Road 1 was shut down for tanker shuttle operations and firefighter safety.  The fire was attacked from both State Road 1 and Manning Street.  The cause of the fire is under investigation by the FAST team and Northeast Fire.  Northeast Fire thanks the following departments and agencies for their assistance:  Woodburn Fire, St. Joseph Township Fire, Huntertown Fire, New Haven Fire, Jackson Township Fire, Southeast Fire, Allen County Police, the Town of Leo-Cedarville and the FAST team. Northeast Fire and EMS would also like to thank Marco's Pizza of Leo for donating pizza's to the fire department after this house fire.
